Respite Care

Caring for someone you love can be exhausting. Sometimes you need a break, and that’s completely understandable. Our respite care gives you time to rest, while your loved one is with a calm, kind team in a place that feels safe, warm and familiar.

Respite Care

What is Respite care?

Respite care is a short stay in one of our homes. It gives you the space to step back, whether that’s for a planned break, a hospital stay, or simply because caring has become exhausting.

Your loved one stays in a calm, familiar environment with a team who takes time to understand their routines, preferences and what helps them feel settled. Whether it’s a few days or a few weeks, they’re supported with the same warmth and attention as anyone who lives with us long-term.

Even during a short stay, days are shaped around small, happy moments such as a favourite song, time in the garden or a chat over tea, and around what feels right for that person.

It’s not a different level of care. It’s the same care, just for a shorter stay.

A Little Extra Reassurance

We’ve supported people living with dementia since 1988, and we’re proud to be rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Most importantly, families tell us it feels calm, warm and genuinely like home.

Respite Care

Who is it for?

Respite care is for families who are caring for someone living with dementia and need temporary support. It might be for a holiday, a hospital stay, or simply time to rest and look after yourself.

It can also be a gentle way to try a short stay before deciding on anything longer term. Your loved one can get to know the team, settle into familiar routines, and you can see what life here feels like.

If you’d like to talk it through, we’re here. We’ll listen, answer your questions, and help you work out the next step.

Respite Care

Our Approach

From the moment your loved one arrives, we take time to understand what helps them feel settled. Their routines, preferences, comforts, and the small things that make a difference.

We support with washing and dressing, meals and medication where needed, always at a calm and respectful pace. There’s also plenty of ordinary life. Good food, gentle activity, time outdoors, and moments of company or quiet, depending on what feels right.

Above all, we want your loved one to feel safe, known and cared for while you take the break you need.

TESTIMONIALS

What people say about us...

The care and stimulation provided is outstanding. Mum is treated as a member of a family. She is happy and stimulated, and partakes in all the activities provided. We feel very confident that Mum's daily needs and welfare are met to the highest standard. We are kept informed of any concerns. We believe this care home allows her to live the best possible life.

Exceptional. I have noticed so much difference and improvement in cognitive abilities. This is due to a safe and supportive environment where every need is not just met but exceeded. Resulting in a relaxed, happy, well nourished, well hydrated person. I had no idea that dementia could be improved so much with such specialised and precise care. Thank you.

An outstanding care provider, as a family we have been so relieved to know that our mother is so well looked after, the staff really have got to know her and the activities have meant that our mother feels as busy as she was before she got dementia.

The best thing we found with Hale Place is the trips they took Nan out on. It's lovely and reassuring to see Nan smiling in the pictures. Hale Place is truly one in a million.

The important questions

How long can a respite stay at Hale Place last?

Respite stays are flexible. Some families book a week or two for a holiday or planned appointment. Others need longer, or support at short notice. If you’re unsure what you need, talk to us. We’ll explain the options and do our best to help, subject to availability.

Will my loved one have their own private room?

Yes. Every respite resident has their own private room for the full duration of their stay. We encourage families to bring familiar items, like photographs, a favourite blanket or personal mementos, to help your loved one feel settled.

Can Hale Place accommodate short-notice or emergency respite requests?

Sometimes respite is needed unexpectedly. Where we can, we do accommodate urgent requests, depending on room availability. If you need support quickly, call us and we’ll talk it through.Points
